Update: Roadway Closures

The 13th Annual WFPS Run will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

There will be road and entrance closures impacting vehicular traffic into and around the Park on Sunday morning between 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (noon).

General Event Info

  • The event starts and ends at the Canadian Mennonite University.
  • There is a half marathon, 10k run, 5k run, and 1k run for kids.
  • The event is not associated with the City of Winnipeg or the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service.
  • WFPS participants, staff, or guests are not permitted to park inside Park premises and signage will be placed at parking lots across the Park to ensure Assiniboine Park guests are able to enjoy Park amenities.

Road Closures Around the Park

  • Shaftesbury Blvd will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon).
  • Roblin Blvd (both directions) will be closed between Chalfont and Shaftesbury from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Vehicle Access into the Park

  • Vehicles requiring access to the Zoo, Park, or Leaf between 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. should use the entrance/exits at the Shaftesbury or Wellington.
  • The following Park entrances/exits will be closed from 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
    • Assiniboine Park Drive off Roblin
    • Commissary Road (with the exception of emergency vehicles, to be monitored by Winnipeg Police)
    • East entrance to main Zoo parking lot
  • The following entrances/exits will be open during this time:
    • Shaftesbury
    • Wellington
    • West entrance to main Zoo parking lot

  • 8:30AM to 9:30AM: Choosing Wisely presented by Dr. Abdi Sokoro (COO, Diagnostic Services, Shared Health; Clinical Biochemist) and Christine Peters (Director, Clinical Project Management Choosing Wisely Manitoba)

  • 9:30AM to 10:30AM: From Surgeon to Senator: Advocacy, Leadership, and the Future of Health Care presented by the Honourable Dr. Osler

  • 10:30AM to 11:15AM: Break. Coffee and muffins. Tickets provided to enter Biome (if requested below)

  • 11:15AM to 12:15PM: Insomnia for Pharmacists (Part 1) presented by Dr. K. Halpepe

  • 12:15PM to 1PM: Lunch. Soup and sandwich

  • 1PM to 2PM: Insomnia for Pharmacists (Part 2)

In-person at The Leaf (145 The Leaf Way) or virtually (Zoom)

Food

  • Snack (during break): Coffee and muffins

  • Lunch: Soup and sandwich

Biome Entry Information

  • Attendees may request a ticket for entry to the Leaf’s four distinct biomes by selecting “YES” on the form below.

  • Attendees with a membership to the Leaf are encouraged to use their membership to get a ticket in advance (book time slot for 10:30AM), and select “NO” below. Tickets for biome entry are valid for the day.
